This is a picture of me sitting at the soundboard making sure the camera was recording for the intro of Ladue view.

This project is about a day in the life of a football player on game day. The person I interviewed was Mel Woodson, a Junior and a player on the Ladue High school football team. I enjoyed filming this project for multiple reasons. I was able to use different kinds of cameras, for example, I was able to use the Go-Pro for the first time. Also, I got to use this chest halter that was on Mel's chest while he was running and doing cool football stuff. I used different compositions for this project. The composition I used was wide, medium, tight, worms view, and bird's eye. My favorite shot is the shot with Mel's cleats on the turf during the game. What I found difficult was getting all the b-roll I needed. For example, He talked about activities he does at home, so Mel and I would have to find a date when I could come over and film. Overall I am proud of the work I did.
I enjoyed filming this project because it was about something I truly care about. A lot of people get their nails done: kids, adults, girls boys... anyone. I think one of my strengths was getting good b-roll of the places and the subject's nails. I drove to each nail place and I recorded wide and tight of the logos. Then I got extreme tight of the girl's nails. What I struggle with was interviewing. Some of the interviews were short, not giving me enough time to add any b-roll. So I went back to record, making the subjects speak in full sentences. Something new I did was add music, I had never done that before. My classmate watched my video to give feedback and said its a fun video and that I should add music. I searched for the right music to fit the theme and added it in, and in my opinion, it ties the video together. There have been new changes around Ladue High School that students dislike. Kevin and I went around the school and interviewed students on how they feel about some rules and what they would do if they were in charge. Interviewing was one of the easiest parts because before interviewing we wrote down a couple of questions to ask. Something that we struggled with was getting the subject to answer in full sentences. When getting b-roll we got tight, medium, bird's eye view and many more. To bring the video all tougher we added a voice-over to bring context in. I enjoyed working on the project because it is something that I thought was interesting and that I care about. I also feel that other students would find this interesting became they might be able to relate to the things the subjects say.
My first professional interview was a really fun experience. What I enjoyed was after filming coming back to edit the footage to put it all together. Interviewing to me is like filming a story but not having to be there With the help of the person being interviewed. While I kept in mind that I have to have the three important compositions in order to succeed, wide, medium and tight. My story package was simply about How’s a student feels about school coming to an end and how another student feels about summer and not having to deal with the school for the break. What I am enjoyed about filming this interview news package was learning different ways of how to tell a story with different people. For example, it was a struggle to get everything I needed out of a person so all I would do was keep asking to tell me about it and questions like that so they could keep going on about it. With interviewing what I need to work on is telling the story more smoothly and more details but what I think I’m pretty good at is getting the composition and editing.
The reason I choose these words as my six word story is because I wanted it to be relatable. The way I thought of the topic was because one day I was thinking about what I wanted to wear to school the next day according to the weather. I walked out my house and of course it was cold and dark. That day impacted what my six word story was going to be about. My first shot is a medium of my brother waking up in bed. My 2nd shot was an extreme tight of him pressing his phone to stop the timer. The 3rd shot was a regular wide of him getting out of bed and walking out the room. My 4th shot was a bird's eye extreme wide of my brother happily running down the stairs. The 5th shot was a canted low tight of him stepping out of the house in blue crocs. My final shot was a tight pan of his face changing emotion and color as he realizes the weather isn't what he thought it would be. The reason I had my brother in shorts short sleeves and crocs was because I wanted the viewer to realize he thought it was going to feel like summer when it was the exact opposite. I choose each shot to tell the story of how he was waking up happily expecting to go outside with the weather being nice, when it wasn't, and how disappointment was literally a step away."For sale baby shoes never worn", by Ernest Hemingway. He was at lunch with friends and they bet him he couldn't do a story in less than 10 words. Some say that Ernest Hemingway got the idea from when he was a kid and there was someone selling something on the newspaper, "Baby’s hand made trousseau and baby’s bed for sale. Never been used." This 6-word story is really deep to me because it makes the reader think about what happened and the back story. I went on multiple websites that had 6-word story and I found some pretty cool ones. “Wrong number,” says a familiar voice."—bailiff, (http://www.sixwordstories.net), " He died happy, knowing he lived."—Alexander Hoffman.
(https://www.buzzfeed.com/anjalipatel/six-word-stories-that-will-take-you-on-an-emotional-rolle). For my six word story, I want it to be somewhat comical but dark and sad at the same time. My 6-word story is going to be about me expecting it to be summer weather and how one step can lead to disappointment. In class, we learned how to work Final Cut Pro. Usually, when a teacher tells me that we will be editing I get nervous because I usually have trouble doing it. But for Final Cut Pro I realized that it's really simple and just like iMovie but easier. We made a “circus wagon video”, that basically mean we put a whole bunch of clips together with all these different colors, fonts, sizes and transitions. We learned about shortcuts like B=blade to cut timeline, A=arrow, command Z undress last action, command + to zoom in and command - to zoom out on the timeline. It was fun to mess with the different music and the different generators. Overall I have to say I enjoyed using Final Cut Pro and can't wait to continue to use it.
